What were you doing before joining IQ?

I was completing my final year of studies whilst working in retail.

What qualifications do you have?

Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Management.

Have you used your qualifications/experience during your time in IQ?

The IQ Group has given me the opportunity to utilise the skills I learnt whilst completing my degree. My ability to problem solve through strategy and research whilst working effectively in multi-disciplinary and diverse teams, has proven to be extremely resourceful when communicating confidently with clients and making quick decisions.

Why did you apply for the graduate program in IQ?

Whilst completing my degree I conducted thorough research and instantly felt compatible with the business model of the IQ Group and the consulting industry. I have always enjoyed all aspects of my degree relating to management, project delivery, business analysis and superannuation. The IQ Group is an innovative, reputable and supportive company that has provided me with the opportunity to further develop and expand my proficiencies and expertise to succeed, as a graduate consultant.

What work did you do as a graduate?

As a graduate we were given several exciting opportunities and tasks that further emersed us with the IQ culture and network, whilst further developing our skills and knowledge.

The graduate team and I began with a two-week intensive training program.  This initial training was of great use to prepare us for our client projects where I have since been able to apply the knowledge learnt.  We followed that with additional training over a six month period to complete two, third-party accreditations to further develop our abilities and expertise resulting in RG146 and BABOK qualifications.

I have also been responsible for the project management of an internal project, and completed tasks that included presentations, research and delivery. I feel extremely fortunate to have started as a graduate consultant at the IQ Group.

What has been the highlight of your career with IQ so far?

The IQ Group is full of intelligent and experienced individuals who are willing to provide guidance and support when required. It is such a rewarding organisation to be in, that values everyone and encourages graduates like myself. I am so proud to be a part of the IQ Group and look forward to continuing my journey with IQ.

Have you used your qualifications/experience during your time in IQ?

A lot of the things I learned while I was studying does not particularly apply to my experience at IQ.  However, throughout university I was able to develop an analytical and curious mindset which has helped me apply some of the concepts I’ve learned in my role.

Why did you apply for the graduate program in IQ?

When I graduated, I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do. When I came across the Graduate Program, I was excited to see that I would be able to explore different areas of work in an industry I have never been a part of.

I went through a wide range of training varying from superannuation, insurance, business analysis and more to develop the skills needed, which I have been able to apply on my first client engagement. The amount of knowledge I have learnt in such a small amount of time has made me realise how great the IQ people are.
